Partner Passing Drill

Partner Passing Drill

How to Perform the Drill:

• Two players stand approximately 20 feet apart facing each other.

• Players pass the ball back and forth while focusing on clean catches and accurate throws.

• Each pass should be aimed directly at the partner’s stick pocket.

• As players improve, they can increase the speed and distance of the drill.

• Players may also add movement such as jogging or side steps while passing.

This drill is commonly used during warm-ups because it helps improve hand-eye coordination and stick control.

Coaching Tip:

Players should focus on proper hand positioning during the passing motion. The top hand guides the stick while the bottom hand generates power and control. Following through after each pass will improve consistency and accuracy.

Triangle Passing Drill

The Triangle Passing Drill helps players improve quick ball movement, communication, and positioning during game situations.

How to Perform the Drill:

• Three players form a triangle about 15 feet apart.

• One player starts with the ball and passes to a teammate.

• After passing, the player runs to replace the receiver’s position.

• The receiver quickly passes to the third player and follows the pass.

• The drill continues in constant rotation with nonstop movement.

As players become more comfortable, the drill speed can be increased or a second ball can be added for a greater challenge.

Coaching Tip:

Players should communicate loudly and clearly during the drill by calling out the receiver’s name before every pass. Coaches should also encourage quick decisions, active footwork, and keeping sticks ready at all times.
